Film Studies through the Department of English provides the opportunity to study and appreciate cinema and supports research in the areas of film criticism, theory, history, and audience reception.  Both undergraduate and graduate students can examine cinema as a visual and narrative art form through our wide variety of film studies courses.  We offer a B.A. program in Film Studies as well as a Ph.D. in English with a concentration in Film Studies.

Through the Dennis Turner Memorial Lecture and DeRoy Lecture Series, we sponsor presentations by distinguished scholars in film and media each year.

Our Film Studies faculty regularly serve as speakers and advisors to community groups, professional associations, and educational institutions from the local to international levels.
