Master of Arts in German
Degree Requirements
The M.A. in German consists of a minimum of 32 credits. Three option are available to students:

Plans A and B are designed for individuals who plan a teaching career on the college level or who plan to pursue a Ph.D.

Plan C provides for an M.A. in Language and Culture and is an option available to individuals who plan to teach on the primary and secondary school levels.

For all Plans, the Graduate School requires a minimum of 6 credits at the 7000 level or above. Students must also complete German 6100 (Critical Approaches to German Studies) for a minimum of 3 credits.

Related Programs
Master of Arts in Language Learning (MALL)
This degree in language pedagogy is designed for current foreign language teachers. A currently certified German teacher can use this program to continue study in German while learning more about the theory and practice of language teaching. This program does not lead to teacher certification.

Teacher Certification (M.A.T.)
Students who have an undergraduate degree in German and seek teacher certification in Michigan can do so through the Master of Arts in Teaching program in the Wayne State College of Education.
